She describes her style as “dressing appropriately for the occasion” wearing anything from simple tank tops to beautiful evening gowns. Her style is edgy, adding her own touch to the classic Hollywood glamour. She can always be spotted sporting the latest designs from Rodarte to Alexander Wang, looks that she describes as “outside of the box.” Her simple additions to her ensemble, such as a simple silver ring or a brass bracelet, add a whole new level of elegance to her style. However, even with her good looks and her great success, she is still humble. She takes every day as it comes and believes in making the most of what you are given because that is all you can do.

But it’s cool if Christian Louboutin pumps aren’t in your budget, because there are all kinds of hot pink heels that will do the job with aplomb. Kate Spade, for instance, makes a hot pink heeled sandal called Lalita that’s simply dripping with spring style. In hot pink with a cascade of overlapping crepe satin bows, they have an elastic heel strap and lightly cushioned leather footbed. And the covered pencil heel completes this shoe’s oh-la-la! Appeal.

You might think that hot pink isn’t versatile, but it really is. For spring it’s almost like a neutral, going just as easily with black slim trousers as with shredded jeans or flirty skirts. And with a sexy mini skirt? Fuhgeddaboudit! You will so own every room you enter that the others won’t even bother to try!

So, is it a “hit” because it’s a beautiful dress worn by a beautiful woman? Or is it a “miss” because it doesn’t match up with the (OK, my) idea of what a beauty like Anne Hathaway should wear on a press junket? It’s hard to argue against the fact that it looks beautiful on her.

Hathaway’s Dolce & Gabbana dress points up a couple of great trends for spring 2011, particularly floaty white dresses, and sheer layers. And if you can’t afford the designer duds, there are plenty of similar styles in more affordable lines. If you can find the look in vintage, then so much the better. First, the fairly serious blazer with the shredded jeans is a great “high-low” mix, and the tie-dyed scarf, with its subtle pattern, adds interest to what could be a boring outfit. And the high-heeled cage booties are on trend and make you remember exactly who’s wearing the outfit. I doubt Ms. Kardashian would be seen in shoes that were anything less than fabulous.

If you want to try this look and are short like I am, you might want to wear jeans that are not cuffed at the bottom, because this tends to make legs look shorter. Sometimes you can make up for this by wearing heels, however. So what’s your take? Is this a look you think you’d wear?

The great thing about fingerless gloves is that you get the tactile sensitivity you need for certain tasks (like texting) plus warmth and protection for the rest of the hand (because it’s either cold weather or overly air conditioned). We’ve seen gorgeous cashmere fingerless gloves by vkoo on stars like Emmy Rossum and Sarah Jessica Parker recently in New York. These beautiful fashion accessories are soft, warm, and practical.

The fingerless glove look started as a sort of edgy, rocker type accessory, first showing up on the mid-80s Madonna. However, in the intervening years, they’ve evolved into a more all-around downtown accessory that works with more looks now than ever. They’ve even been spotted on no less of a style star than Karl Lagerfeld, along with skinny black jeans!

In Rossum’s case, she paired the gloves with an equally luxurious loop scarf by vkoo. Parker paired hers with the “Marilyn” hat by Gerard Darel. Fingerless gloves and other yummy, warm accessories are great pick-me-ups for those cold winter days.

Arden B. makes a version of this belted hoodie with very similar faux leather appliqués and open front. It’s designed to close gracefully with its belted waist, and features long sleeves with dome buttons at the cuffs. For under $50, it will work perfectly over not only jeans, but flannel trousers or a sheath dress. And the trendy gray color will go great with another trendy color this winter: blush pink.

Toggle coats, also sometimes called duffel coats, feature closings reminiscent of those found on children’s coats. This year, designers have come up with a number of adult versions of the toggle coat, taking classics like the pea coat and giving them a simple update as well as touches of luxury like leather. They’ve been photographed on Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Kate Bosworth.

While toggle coats with wooden toggles are the most casual styles, dressy black toggles are available too, making the look a bit dressier. Most of these coats are hip length, with some styles hitting at the top of the hips and others reaching just below the hips. The dressiest styles have a bit of an empire waist, with the toggles all at waist level or above, to allow the hem to flare outward.

What should you wear with toggle coats? Mini skirts with black tights and heels are good, as are slim black slacks. Jeans are great too, as are sweater dresses. And you have your choice of footwear, from flats to heels to boots. All in all, this is a fun new trend that can have a place in any wardrobe.

Leopard prints are pretty much here to stay. They’ve been so popular for so long that they’re becoming a classic. One new place we’re seeing leopard prints is on feet. Stars like Jessica Simpson, Olivia Palermo, and Janet Jackson have all been photographed wearing leopard print booties, some of which (like Jessica Simpson’s) tread a fine line between shoes and booties.

Animal prints of all kinds promise to be big next spring, too, so if you were to buy leopard print booties now, you could keep right on wearing them up until the weather turns warm. The same is true of other leopard print accessories like leopard cuff bracelets and scarves.

The best way to wear this trend is to let your shoes do the talking and keep the rest of your outfit fairly simple and monochrome. Fortunately, leopard print goes with a lot of colors, so you’re not too restricted on the color of the rest of your outfit. They also go great with outfits featuring casual jeans and simple sweaters or tees. Gold jewelry goes best with leopard, though you could go with something shiny and black instead. Nicole Richie recently dished with Lucky magazine about her obsession with fashion accessories. The star revealed that she has 30 Chanel handbags (“but I stole a lot of them from my mom,” she clarifies), and lots of over-the-top jewelry. She told the magazine that “Fashion is about fun,” and that when it comes to fashion designers, the late Alexander McQueen was a favorite.

Richie also talked a bit about her obsession with vintage clothing because, she said, “I really believe you can’t make a mistake with vintage.” The newlywed mother of two plans to continue experimenting with fashion indefinitely, and right now that includes a lot of vintage items accessorized by jewelry she designs herself for her House of Harlow jewelry label.

Fashion industry titan Victoria Beckham says she is flattered that people think designer Roland Mouret designs the clothing for her fashion label. Since starting her label in 2008, Beckham has battled celebrity gossip that Mouret does the work for her, which she insists is not true. However, she is diplomatic about it and says she considers it a compliment.

“I suppose if people think the clothes are too good for me to have designed them, that’s a backhanded compliment.” She also recently told Britain’s Vogue magazine that Oprah Winfrey asked her to design a dress for her, so she feels that she must be doing something right. She also told Vogue that she doesn’t consider designing as work, because she loves it so much.
